THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF THE INSTITUTE ARE:
- the theory of oil and gas formation, studying of the law-governed nature of the formation and location of deposits of oil, gas and methane-coal fields;
- geological and geochemical paleoceanography of ancient continental margins and their useful minerals;
- the development of scientific grounds of energy-effective geotechno-logies for processing of non-conditioned deposits of combustible minerals;
- geology and geoecology of the Carpathian region.
