The profile activities are: investigation and development of environmentally friendly technologies for the exploitation of hard and incoherent mineral deposits of the Azov-Black Sea Shelf and other zones of the World Ocean.
The alternative activity is development of environment protection technologies:
- development of energy saving technologies;
- development of the environment protection technologies and facilities for their implementation including those for small rivers and ponds cleaning, slurry tanks, land reclamation, water cleaning and others.
The leading specialists of the center have great experience in carrying out design and research works in the spheres of:
- technology for mining industry;
- technology and facilities for hard minerals extraction from the World Ocean at the 6 km depth and on the sea shelf;
- robotized facilities for work in the extremes of deep-water, radiation zones, etc;
- stand and field testing of facilities.
The accumulated scientific and technical backlog, that is connected with the creation of technology for the World Ocean as the intermediate results, gives the basis for the new developments that can be used during the creation of a series of machines (equipment) corresponding to ecological demands and other aspects of practical activities, for example, for sapropel or mason's sand mining.
The existing deep-water mineral mining methods provide negative after - effects, such as water turbidity, disturbances of the bottom surface layer, bank erosion, etc. The necessity of their decreasing was considered when developing technology for the exploitation of the incoherent and gravel mineral deposits in the river and on the sea shelf. The developed facilities make it possible to mine minerals from under the bottom surface layer and a long way from the shore at the 50 m depths, to implement the closed system of the ground scoop technological water supply. It minimizes the negative mining effect on the regional ecosystem, the destruction of the coastal zone, spawning - grounds and recreation zones. Proposed technology makes it possible to mine minerals from the river and sea deposits without stripping.
Working at the above-mentioned problems the center has gained the experience in the following engineering fields:
- solving of non-typical engineering tasks providing final aim achievement;
- designing of complex robotics systems;
- collection and transmission of information in non-typical engineering situations; maintenance of facilities working in extremes:
- interconnection of systems (units, machines) into a single technological complex:
- development and usage of new materials and technologies:
- interconnection of the production and technological possibilities of the pilot -scale production, stands, testing grounds, simulators and others into a single complex for the facilities development and testing:
